The Pink Coconuts Automation Project was a digital learning subproduct created in partnership with No-Code District. The goal: to design and launch a WhatsApp-based training system that delivers bite-sized daily courses to hospitality and tourism professionals across the Caribbean. This innovative tool empowers partner organizations to train their staff in inclusive service, upselling, communication, and customer care, using an accessible, chat-based format β€” no apps, no logins, just learning through conversation.

Challenge and Context

The hospitality sector in the Caribbean faces ongoing challenges in staff training accessibility and engagement β€” particularly for small or remote tourism businesses.

Pink Coconuts sought to bridge the gap between training and technology by creating a lightweight, inclusive learning solution accessible via WhatsApp β€” a platform already widely used by local businesses and staff.

The challenge was to:

  • Deliver interactive, short-format lessons daily.
  • Automate progress tracking, feedback, and certification.
  • Build a system that organizations could adopt easily and scale independently.

Objectives

  • Create a microlearning experience through WhatsApp automation.
  • Enable organizations to train and certify staff without a traditional LMS.
  • Provide daily 10–15 minute training sessions accessible to all devices.
  • Design a scalable no-code architecture that reduces maintenance overhead.
  • Establish a new B2B revenue stream for Pink Coconuts.

Solution

Discovery & Research:

No-Code District analyzed user behavior and training accessibility needs across the Caribbean hospitality sector. WhatsApp was identified as the ideal delivery platform for its ubiquity and simplicity.

Design & Architecture:
  • Designed a 5-course learning program covering:
    1. Customer Service Essentials
    2. Upselling Techniques
    3. Inclusive Hospitality
    4. Conflict Resolution
    5. Team Communication
  • Each course structured as a daily 10–15 minute interactive chat.
  • Users receive instant feedback, progress summaries, and a certificate upon completion.
Development:
  • Implemented using Make (Integromat) and ManyChat, integrated with Bubble.io for data storage and tracking.
  • Automated workflows included:
    • Lesson scheduling and delivery
    • Interactive response handling
    • Personalized feedback generation
    • Completion and certification issuance via email
  • Created admin tools for organization onboarding and participant monitoring.

Launch & Handover:

A pilot version was tested with simulated learners to ensure reliability, conversational flow, and automation timing. Documentation and templates were handed off for scaling to partner organizations.
